The F-22 is the only fighter in the world that can strike at high speed without an afterburner. Remember, China. The F-22 also clashed with current events, as the economic demands of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the lack of adversaries made the $300 million fighter an unsustainable cost, according to government officials at the time.

But even more elegant. As easy as it sounds to build new F-22s, the truth is that restarting the F-22 production line costs as much, if not more, than building an entirely new and potentially better fighter.

The Raptor is also capable of carrying up to 5,000 pounds in hard spaces under its wing. For ferry flights, these hardpoints typically carry four 600-gallon fuel tanks to increase range. Well, the F-22 does a great job. Against an opponent like the F-15, the F-22 had a kill ratio of 108:0 as reported in exercise Northern Edge 2006. What exactly does this number mean? Compare that to the numbers the F-15 put up against the far less sophisticated F-5.
