Nos Big Shot Jet Chart

Nos Big Shot Jet Chart – As with most systems tested, the Speedtech fuel and nitrous jets are close to the same size. The best performance for this plate produces 657 lb-ft of torque at 4,300, while the horsepower increases to 601 at exactly 5,500 rpm.

We did three runs with this plate and it showed the smallest difference in power with a difference of 13-lb-ft and 20 hp between runs. It’s also the most expensive, measuring the price-per-power ratio, but it seems to be the most stable of all the boards we tested.

Our testing process requires a special aircraft, but ZEX decided to make it work anyway. As you can see, the ZEX plate with the nitrous 63 jet performs much better than typical rod systems. Comparing the three runs back-to-back, peak torque values differ by only 20 lb-ft while peak horsepower hovers around 25.

Bottle Temp To Bottle Pressure Ratio

This is one of the many systems in which there is a test. This difference also shows that even Nitrous Pro-Flow’s combined 16 and 17 horsepower advantage over other plates isn’t always justified. But let’s not discount the Pro-Flow’s performance in our testing.

While more expensive, the Pro-Flow plate clearly shows that it has an advantage when it comes to energy efficiency over a single-plate system. SpeedAs opposed to solid billet or brass tube designs, Speedtech created a four hole plate that uses a unique central partition that draws salt and oil from the center plenum outwards through separate ports.

Stainless steel, two-dimensional CNC machined using multiple holes, directs the nitrous to the curved edge where the fuel is introduced. Nitro and fuel combine to create a 360-degree spray design that Speedtech claims offers optimal distribution over spray bars that combine delivery in the center of the manifold.

To prove it, we designed a test run where each plate would run on the same 9.5:1 302 Ford small block (until it blew a head gasket). To keep it simple, we chose to use one set of NOS Big Shot solenoids and lines with a 15 pound bottle for each plate.

Each plate is also specified to run the same size nitrous 63 jet (0.063 inch diameter), allowing each manufacturer to specify their fuel equipment based on the standard 6-psi fuel pressure. This is a typical rep for an increase of about 150 hp.

Until next time; “Come in, sit down, be quiet, and wait for me to push the fun button!” -Robie Nitrous WorksThe Barry Grant nitrous company offers the Billet Atomizer, a traditional system with an 11/42-inch billet-aluminum plate.

The Billet Atomizer spray bars have 32 precision-drilled 0.035-inch nitrous holes and eliminate noisy overlapping areas common in other designs that can cause pressure drops. One advantage is cost reduction; The least expensive plate in this test.

Nitrous Services is the only company that uses special grade nitrous and fuel jets with large 0.188-inch valves. This means that competing aircraft will not work in the Nitrous Operations plate. Nos (A Division of Holley); Bowling Green, KY; 714/546-0592 (technology); 800 / Holley-1, ext. 8530 (nearest dealer); nosnitrous.com Nitrous Pro-Flow This company is a force in the nitrous business as an outgrowth of Keith Wilson’s company Wilson Manifolds.

Best known for purple nitrous plates that feature blast panels, Nitrous Pro-Flow sent a thin 31/44-inch plate without blast panels to more closely resemble the rest of the test subjects. . A lot of effort went into this design, starting with large stainless steel tubes encased in billet-aluminum plate.

The holes in the shaft have been drilled at angles to create a pattern for the radial spray to improve the distribution of the nitrous mixture, and offer more cylinder-to-cylinder balance. However, this technology comes at a price.

The basic Nitrous Pro-Flow non-explosive panel costs about $150 more than its less-expensive competitors. The high price also raises its cost-per-power ratio. According to ZEX engineer Matt Patrick, a disadvantage of this design is the large distance the nitrous must travel around the plate area, which reduces the nitrous pressure inside.

The pressure drop usually requires a slightly larger nitrous jet in order for the ZEX system to deliver the same amount of nitrous as its competitors. ZEXZEX, the owner of Comp Cams, recently introduced a completely different local nitro plate that we tested.

The ZEX system uses an open plenum plate without a spray bar called Peripheral Injection Technology. Both halves of the plate have a chamber, one for nitrous and one for fuel. These two halves are held together with a gasket in between for sealing.

Each of the 12 exhaust holes funnels nitrous and fuel into separate ports. The holes are drilled at an angle that creates a low-pressure area directly below the carburetor designed to increase air volume and improve mixture distribution.

ZEX says this plate can be used on single- and dual-plane clutch transmissions with a horsepower adjustment range between 100 and 300 hp. We started testing each plate with a 15-ounce bottle of nitrous fully set to 900 psi.

We assume that we will test each plate three times between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm and then average the horsepower for each run and add those three numbers together to create an average horsepower number for each plate that

will show which plate will be faster than the car. . However, we quickly discovered that nothing stays the same even when we don’t change anything in our testing process. The lines are usually so different that the test showed nothing.

So we moved the process to the best performing average from each plate that could be supported with a second test that was nearly as good. That way, we have some semblance of consistency. We also carefully monitor fuel pressure, nitrous pressure, air/fuel ratio, and a ton of other variables to make sure the test is as accurate as possible.

Pay particular attention to each side bar. We’ve written a lot about nitrous in this thread, and we’ve gone over many of the details that can help you get the most out of your nitrous system.

If it is of scientific interest, it is NOS because this is the only test where the same manufacturer is used for the plate, line, solenoids and bottle. Overall the power numbers look like NOS is right there in the mix with all plates except the Nitrous Pro-Flow.

We also looked at test-test durability, and the NOS plate performed well with a 39 lb-ft difference in peak torque and only an 11 hp difference in horsepower between the three rear nitro units. Nitrous-Oxide SystemsNOS, the oldest and most famous nitrous house in the world, has chosen its popular Big Shot system as a player plate.

This is an 11/42-inch thick plate with a standard rod arrangement that has been used since the early days. The Big Shot uses one spray bar for nitrous and another for fuel, using the highest quality 34-valve nitrous nozzles in our testing.

The holes are drilled at a downward angle to direct the high pressure nitrous on the fuel into small droplets as they both enter the canister. Interesting feature: We found an old NOS plate from the early 80’s that only had two nitrous holes for a total of four for the entire plate!

This new NOS Big Shot system is built to produce about 400 hp. Nitrous Express This company takes a smaller approach to plate design, using a 31/44-inch billet-aluminum plate with a plenum split instead of spray bars.

The distributor features individual nitrous drill holes and fuel lines with only four nitrous and fuel injection holes per side. The goal is to create a salt and fuel distribution in the intake manifold to eliminate lean cylinders when it comes to nitrous.

Nitrous Express claims its flights run 35 percent faster than the competition. These planes have different inlet and outlet flaps, which can affect the flow of the plane. Note that we checked 63 nitrous jets from each company with a specific stroke size to make sure they were all compliant.

The biggest thing we learned about salt mixing is that even with close monitoring of bottle pressure, oil pressure, and all the other variables, these plates will often produce very different results without system changes. During a test, the plate produced peak torque at 4,300 rpm and maximum horsepower at 6,000 rpm.

On the second pump without a change – the head of rotation occurs at the same 4,300, but the peak horsepower drops to 4,400 rpm. We have no explanation for this. ‘Pump-pack-pack-pack. Nitrous is the fastest way on the road or the fastest way to boulevard stardom.

The easiest way to get there is with a carbureted plate system. But who makes the best plate? That’s what we’re here to see. We collected six different steel plates from several manufacturers, attached them to a small block, and let them pull it out.

Our average power, peak power, how much each of these plates cost, as well as a lot of other information you won’t find in any other magazine – probably because they weren’t stupid enough to try something like this.

Testing with the Nitrous Express plate went smoothly. The plate hits hard with a peak torque of 740 lb-ft at 4,300 rpm, the second highest on record. The highest horsepower comes immediately after the top torque – 613 hp at a very low 4,400 rpm.

Horse power at 6000 rpm is still 548. This is something we see happening often. Maximum horsepower occurs in the lower rpm arm, and horsepower cuts off at higher rpm even though cylinder pressure does not exceed 860 psi.

Big Picture hopes to find the smallest differences in overall power numbers among our seven competitors, despite the different core methods in the Speedtech and ZEX designs. In five out of six pages, that’s what happened.

Nitrous Pro-Flow plate was behind the high performance. The difference between the average horsepower for the other five plates is only 3.8 hp. Compared to the standard 560 hp, that’s a difference of 0.7 percent, which isn’t noticeable because none of the plates on the rear wheels are aligned.

We see the impact of this technology in the test results, with the Nitrous Pro-Flow plate creating amazing power numbers. What the 577 combined horsepower result doesn’t tell you is that this plate puts out 758 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm and then follows up with 619 hp at 4,400.

Power drops after that, but still makes 577 hp at 6000 rpm. The air/oil ratio is also a conservative 11.9 average: 1. On a single pull, the Pro-Flow plate makes 616 hp at 5,600, which shows that the power can move around quite a bit depending on where it’s going.

band rpm. These last tests were unchanged, but peak power went up to 1,200 rpm. The Nitrous Test method is very interesting for bottle pressurization. Pressurizing nitrous gas to 735 psi (or higher) produces liquid nitrous oxide.

Just because a bottle of salt is filled to a certain weight doesn’t mean the bottle pressure is ideal. Read the chart below and you will see that bottle pressure is directly related to nitrous temperature.

The Billet Atomizer’s 52 jet size is the smallest of all competitors, with other devices hovering around 62 and 63. We look closely at the air/fuel ratio, but the plate is clearly well-corrected and safe in all tests.

The Nitrous Works plate pumped out an impressive 695 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm and made 598 hp at 6,100 rpm. As usual, when we make a second test on the plate using the same glass, we see a higher pressure than the first, which reduces the force a little.
